The 2013-2014 school year has been another exciting year at Soldotna High School. Within our classrooms one can see the rigor and relevance of Master Teachers working with students who have dreams and plans for their future. After a rigorous day of learning, our students and staff don’t stop there. Our afterschool programs strive to continue our students’ education by teaching team work, goal setting, stressing physical fitness, fellowship and by enhancing our overall school climate at Soldotna High School. Whether it is our All-State Music students, to individual State Champions, to our defending State Championship Football Team, our students, directors and coaches strive for excellence within our activity programs.
I have been impressed with the manner in which the entire staff has taken on the AdvancED Accreditation process. Through this process we have been able to celebrate a past of excellence in education at the same time we have been looking through various collected data, including that from our students, parents, staff and community in hopes of making Soldotna High School an even better place to work, learn and play. This website offers the AdvancED accreditation team and the community a detailed look at our school, as well as our internal review of the five AdvancED Standards for Quality Schools. To view our score sheet simply go to the Standards page, and to read our in-depth review for each standard and its components select the standard from the drop down menu. These reviews include embedded links as well as a Standards Evidence Library for quick access to evidence and artifacts that support our assessment.
It is clear to see that we have students who are hungry to learn and a staff that believes that “Failure is NOT an Option” for our students. We have also been blessed with a community that is just a phone call away, ready to support and lend a hand as a friend in education.
I would like to send out a special thank you to our AdvancED visitation team. We truly hope that you enjoy your day with us and are looking forward to any/all feedback that you might have for us as a school. I would also like to thank the SOHI staff for the many hours of dedication they have put forth both in the classrooms and within the accreditation process. Last, but not least a thank you to our students, parents and community who have given us great feedback in our surveys.
I am extremely proud of Soldotna High School and being your Principal is both an honor and a privilege. The many hours we spend together providing great things for our students has and will continue to pay huge dividends as we watch our next generation prepare to take charge of our community, state and country. Thanks again to all of you for making Soldotna High School an outstanding school.
Todd Syverson, Soldotna High School Principal
